Pobga’s Brother Jailed for Extortion

Pogba Jailed

Six men, including Paul Pogba’s brother, were found guilty of extortion attempts against the football player and sentenced to prison terms ranging from three to eight years on Thursday, according to French media.

Paul Pogba claimed in 2022 that an organised gang had threatened and tried to extort him, and that his brother Mathias was the subject of a legal investigation.

The 31-year-old Paul Pogba told the Paris prosecutor’s office that he had paid €100,000 ($104,000) to his childhood friends in March 2022 after they had extorted him.

Mathias was found guilty of organised extortion and attempted extortion and was sentenced to three years in jail, two of which are suspended. He also received a €20,000 fine.

The others are Mamadou M (five years, twelve months suspended), Adama C (five years), Boubacar C (four years, two suspended), Machikour K (four years, three suspended), and Roushdane K (eight years).

The 2018 World Cup winner’s contract with Juventus was mutually terminated, leaving him without a club. Since his four-year ban for doping was lowered to 18 months, he is eligible to resume playing competitive football in March.
