Chelsea to Sign Liam Delap to replace Nkunku
Chelsea has already identified Christopher Nkunku’s replacement
Christopher Nkunku, who mostly plays in cup games and Conference League rather than the Premier League has reportedly been frustrated with his minutes this season at Stamford Bridge.
When the transfer window reopens, the Frenchman is reportedly linked to several elite clubs, and at this point, a move away looks imminent. Barcelona has apparently been given the opportunity to recruit Nkunku, but their ongoing financial difficulties will probably hinder their attempts to do so.
There have been persistent rumours that Chelsea is eager to add a new striker to give Nicolas Jackson competition. The Blues will look no further than signing Ipswich’s Liam Delap if they must make the move in January.
Following Delap’s great debut as a Premier League player, it has already been reported that Chelsea has started the process of preparing a bid. In a struggling Ipswich team, Delap has six goals to his record thus far.
He also excels at winning the ball back in the final third. Chelsea’s ambition during the most recent summer transfer window demonstrated their desire for top players to compete for spots all over the pitch. In order to compete with the already excellent wingers they had at Stamford Bridge, they brought in Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho.
This has allowed them to adjust their lineup according to the opponent they face. Given that the Blues use crosses far more under Maresca than they ever did under Mauricio Pochettino, Delap would undoubtedly add a more physical alternative to the team.
