Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois rejoins the national team

Real Madrid player Thibaut Courtois will soon rejoin the national team of Belgium, according to confirmation made by head coach Rudi Garcia on Friday.

Since the summer of 2023, goalie Courtois has not set foot on the field while wearing the Belgian flag. Despite the fact that his first absence was due to injury, the former Chelsea player declared in August of last year that he would not be playing for the Red Devils as long as Domenico Tedesco was still in charge.

However, Rudi Garcia has since taken Tedesco’s place when he was fired from his position last month. Additionally, Courtois has previously approved of a return to duty with Belgium under Garcia’s supervision following a recent round of negotiations between the two.

Speaking to L’Équipe, as cited by Fabrizio Romano, on Friday, Garcia confirmed:

“Thibaut Courtois returns to the national team. I met him in Madrid before Real Madrid-City. This is great news for Belgium.”
