Chelsea is prepared to make a huge summer bid for one of the Premier League’s surprising stars this year.
With Enzo Maresca’s team now prepared to shell out a lot of money for the versatile forward, who has emerged as one of the season’s top players in England’s top division, the Blues have their sights set on Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo.
Semenyo has contributed three assists and seven Premier League goals this season for the Cherries, who have been one of the season’s biggest surprises as they sit seventh on the league table and have a real chance to make it to Europe for the first time.
The 25-year-old’s versatility across the forward line, pace, and game reading have reportedly drawn Chelsea’s attention, according to Fichajes. According to Maresca, his capacity to create chances and pose danger in the opposition box is essential.
Even though the Blues have the fourth-best attacking record in the Premier League, behind only Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, the Chelsea coaching staff feels that he is the exact kind of player needed at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea make £50M budget for winger
Chelsea’s budget to sign Semenyo, who has a contract with Bournemouth through 2029, seems reasonable given his estimated transfer value (ETV) of €37.5 million, which has skyrocketed since the season began.
Meanwhile, Semenyo is ranked as one of the Premier League’s top wingers by data analytics company SciSports. He is seen to be on par with Mykhailo Mudryk, who is now out due to a provisional ban for using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).
The only Chelsea player currently outperforming the Ghanaian international who was born in London this season is Noni Madueke. However, Semenyo is 25 years old, making him older than Chelsea usually looks to acquire in the transfer market, raising questions about how real their interest in the player is.
