Chelsea to reignite their Garnacho pursuit in the Summer

Chelsea will look to sign Garnacho in the summer

Adding a left-winger was one of the Blues’ objectives for the January transfer window after Mykhailo Mudryk was placed on provisional suspension for reportedly failing a drug test.

Nevertheless, despite discussions with a number of possible players, Chelsea only acquired a central midfielder Mathis Amougou and did not strengthen their attacking ranks. Karim Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund and his teammate Jamie Gittens were both briefly considered by the Blues.

However, the latter was given an exorbitant price tag of €100 million after the former decided he did not want to leave in the middle of the season. More significantly, Chelsea launched an attempt to acquire Alejandro Garnacho after learning that Manchester United would be open to selling given their financial circumstances.

Even before the window opened and his agents appeared in public at Stamford Bridge, negotiations had started, but the Blues were shocked by the Red Devils’ €70 million asking price. Wonderkids Estevao and Kendry Paez will join Enzo Maresca’s team in the summer.

Although it will be intriguing to watch how the head coach integrates him and Cole Palmer into the same squad, the former is anticipated to take on a key No. 10 role right away. The Daily Mail claims that Chelsea may rekindle their search for a left-winger in the summer despite these additions.

Future movements were made possible by the discussions that were had with players like Gittens and Garnacho. It will be interesting to monitor Gittens in particular.

If Dortmund fails to earn a spot in the Champions League, he is anticipated to depart. In the Bundesliga, they are now mired in 11th place, but they are only four points behind RB Leipzig in fourth place. It’s unclear if Garnacho will be able to return to Manchester United as a “untouchable.”

Ruben Amorim has consistently stated that he wants to keep him and has commended his willingness to work hard and grow compared to Marcus Rashford.
