Liverpool are among several teams monitoring PSG defender Hakimi as Arnold’s replacement in case he joins Real Madrid.
The right-back’s contract with Anfield expires in 2025, and the Merseyside team is negotiating a new deal. Actually there hasn’t been any official word on the 26-year-old’s future yet. Real Madrid is prepared to make a move for Alexander-Arnold should he look for a new challenge next summer. The Spanish giants had since has been keeping an eye on his status at Anfield for some time now.
According to Fichajes, Acraf Hakimi, a former madridista who is potentially a possibility for both Liverpool and Man City, is another full-back on the Spanish powerhouses’ roster. Prior to the 2025 transfer windows, all three teams showed interest in the Moroccan international. However, it is unclear if PSG would be amenable to a sale. The player’s Paris contract expires in 2026, making next summer the best opportunity to sell.
Is Hakimi the ideal replacement?
Even if that is a significant component of the PSG defender’s game, Hakimi would be considered a downgrade on Alexander-Arnold because no one in the world of football possesses the Liverpool star’s innate talent moving forward. If the Englishman decides to leave Anfield next summer, the 25-year-old Morocco international would be a fantastic successor because he has played at the highest level for many years and is skilled on both sides of the ball.
Since joining PSG in 2021, the full-back has made 130 appearances for the Ligue 1 winners, tallying 16 goals and 22 assists in the last three years. PSG would not want to give up on Hakimi easily because he is among the greatest players in the world for his position.
