Manchester United submits €70M bid for Osimhen

Man U bid for Victor Osimhen

According to reports, Manchester United has made a verbal bid for Victor Osimhen as Ruben Amorim seeks to add a new number nine to his forward line.

Amorim is in dire need of additions before the January transfer window ends, as the Red Devils are currently in 13th place in the Premier League standings following their 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.

After working with Amorim at Sporting CP, Viktor Gyokeres has been strongly linked to a move to Old Trafford in recent months. However, Osimhen has been called Manchester United’s “dream” acquisition.

Manchester United’s bid

In an attempt to get the 26-year-old this month, the Red Devils have even made a verbal offer of €70 million. Turkish journalist Kagan Dursun told Haber Sari Kirmizi that Manchester United recently dispatched representatives to Istanbul to try to persuade Osimhen to terminate his loan at Galatasaray and sign a contract with the Old Trafford team in January.

They didn’t bring anything back, though, and Osimhen was adamant about staying at Galatasaray until this summer. The Nigerian international is anticipated to sign a long-term contract with Napolion this year, but Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are expected to put a lot of pressure on Manchester United to sign him.

Osimhen has made 18 appearances for Galatasaray in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and dishing out six assists, including a brace against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League. In light of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee’s troubles, Manchester United has been linked to several centre strikers.

The Red Devils are aggressively looking for a new number nine as they attempt to finally catch up to Europe’s best, as the two have only managed 11 goals between them in 57 games this season.

Ahead of the 2025 summer transfer window, Manchester United is keeping an eye on players including Randal Kolo Muani, Jonathan David, and Victor Boniface in addition to the previously mentioned Osimhen and Gyokeres.
