Mohammed Salah to sign new Liverpool contract in coming weeks
Liverpool to extend Salah’s contract
According to reports, Mohammed Salah is almost certain to sign a new contract, putting an end to rumours over his future at Liverpool. Salah, 32, is among the Reds’ greatest players ever.
Since joining the team from Roma in 2017 for an initial £36.5 million cost, the Egyptian has scored an incredible 227 goals in 372 games. As Arne Slot’s team continues to make an impression this season, the forward, who has won eight trophies at Anfield, is still a vital member.
Salah’s contract, however, ends in the summer, and the Egyptian has not yet extended it. His future is currently a hot topic of conversation. Although the club and the player are reportedly eager to agree on new terms, the 32-year-old has repeatedly hinted that this season may be his final one at Anfield.
Last week, MAIL Sport revealed that the Reds had made him an offer on a contract. Additionally, the situation has altered with Salah, who has the right to speak with international clubs and potentially agree to a deal to join them, as of January 1, according to Spanish publication Marca.
According to reports, Mohamed Salah is almost certain to sign a new contract with Liverpool, putting an end to the rumours. Report says Liverpool’s management has persuaded the Egyptian to sign a new contract, and it’s even thought that everything might be finalised before the year ends.
LIFE UNDER ARNE SLOT
After scoring 16 goals and dishing out 13 assists in 23 games, Salah is having a wonderful season. The Reds have realised that the striker will continue to play a vital role in the team’s future under Arne Slot.
The Saudi Pro League is still interested in Salah, according to the report, but there is less chance that the 32-year-old will leave the Premier League to play in the Middle East. MARCA stated that the Reds are desperate to retain at least two of the three players, since the contracts of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also set to expire in the summer.
Given Real Madrid’s long-standing alleged interest, Alexander-Arnold’s predicament is especially relevant. With their defensive injury issues—Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal are both out for the remainder of the season—Real Madrid may even make a January move for the right back.
Recently, Salah hinted that he would be leaving the team in his remarks following Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Man City earlier this month, in which the forward scored and provided an assist.
Addressing his contract stand-off, Salah said: ‘We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club”.
Salah returns to action on Wednesday night when Liverpool travel to Southampton in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
