Barcelona has reportedly been monitoring Alphonso Davies

According to rumors from Mundo Deportivo, Barca has been monitoring Bayern star Alphonso Davies, for their left-back position. One of the top full-backs right now, Davies being watched by FC Barcelona for the upcoming summer because of his explosive speed and defensive prowess.

Given that the star left-back’s Bayern contract expires in June 2025 and that negotiations to extend it are ongoing between him and the club, Barca thinks they may have a chance to get him. Alphonso Davies is actually a player who Barca’s sporting director Deco feels is essential to the team’s future, according to sources from Diario SPORT. The Barcelona legend has expressed a strong interest in signing Davies, having already met with him in February of this year.

It won’t be simple, though, as several teams, notably Real Madrid, their rivals in the Clasico, are keeping an eye on the player’s condition. Davies had been connected to a Real Madrid move for a long time before Barca’s rumors involving the Canadian star began, so the full-back’s move to Barcelona would undoubtedly require a high salary—even more than €20 million annually. Knowing that he hasn’t yet joined Madrid or extended his contract with Bayern, the Blaugrana club has continued to monitor the superstar.

Given the current circumstances, FC Barcelona’s position in Alphonso Davies’ story appears somewhat precarious, with teams like Real Madrid and Bayern faring better. Davies and Flick, who had a great working relationship at Bayern Munich, might be reunited if the Blaugrana club decides to strengthen their left-back position next summer.
