In a recent interview, Chelsea’s main man, Cole Palmer, disclosed the most formidable opponent he has faced. Palmer is currently the man of the moment. Since joining from Manchester City in the summer of 2023, everything Palmer has touched has essentially turned to gold.
His ascent to the top has been swift, and he is currently regarded as one of the greatest players. Some even consider him the best in the world and possibly the best in the Premier League. Palmer reveals his most formidable foe.
Under Mauricio Pochettino, the England international had a fantastic breakthrough season, tallying 22 goals and dishing out 11 assists. With seven goals and five assists this season, Palmer’s ability to repeat is the most anticipated topic this season.

This season, the opposition has paid more attention to Palmer, and some teams have attempted to man-mark him. They double-up on him during games in an effort to lessen his influence. Although many were surprised that he didn’t place higher, Zola has predicted that he will win the Ballon d’Or soon.
The interview
He just finished 25th in the rankings. In a recent quick fire questions session with Chelsea’s in-house media team, Palmer revealed that Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk is his toughest opponent, despite the fact that he has been giving defenders nightmares since moving to Stamford Bridge.
The Dutchman is one of the best in the business, and Palmer did have a quiet game in the recent defeat at Anfield, although that was more down to being man marked by Curtis Jones.
Chelsea will be hoping Palmer will be at his best again on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle as the Blues look to progress to the quarter finals.
